Reflecting and Acting

Image
I used to think that German was a super complicated language but now I think that German is not that hard but it is still a little hard. I can use this when I am talking with someone that speaks German. I should use German more when I'm getting food at the pool or something like that because it would help me improve my German skills. I have learned a lot aboutd colours, clothes and materials. I have learned more about how to speak German and materials. Next time I need to try to learn more because it will be very helpful for the future. I wish I had a translater to help me with German. I have got better at speaking German.

Art Slideshow

This is me sketching my batik design on a piece of cloth. This is the batik when it was complete, this was my best batik piece, it is a man climbing a mountain.

Math

In maths we learned about prime numbers, this learning engagement helped me to think more about how many prime numbers there actually are, and I found it challenging to find an exact amount with the whole class.

Writing Up An Experiment

As part of our How the World Works unit, we have been learning about the scientific process. Here is a scientific report that I wrote. Something I still need to work on when writing up experiments is recording the data better and also making sure that all the control variables are set so that everything is accurate. (they were pretty accurate but we could have done a tiny bit better.) This is my group getting ready to test the boiling vinegar as I am heating the vinegar and Francesc is getting the vinegar in the bottle and Nell is getting ready to record. This is our group doing our best to get the baking soda in the balloon but we struggled a lot with it, it was still a lot of fun.

Fabric Inquiry Vincent & Jay

To learn more about materials and how they are produced and  changed, we did an inquiry into fabric. We used the ProScopes to look closely at different fabrics and then researched to find out more about them. This is me and Jay looking at a fabric and naming its quality's for our writing about it. This is me and Jay looking at a fabric through the ProScope, the close up image is showing on the computer.

How The World Works

Identity Poem

Image
At the start of the year, as part of our Who We Are unit, we were thinking about identity. Here is a poem I wrote to share some aspects of my identity. I am Vincent. I wonder what created the universe and beyond. I hear my grandmother talking about us in Belgium. I see my mom working hard to sustain our family. I want to see everything the world has to offer. I am Vincent. I pretend to be okay when i need somebody. I feel happy when I am with the right people. I touch the mouse of the laptop when I play video games. I worry my great grandmother will die when our family is not there. I cry when I am hurt. I am Vincent. I understand what it’s like to be the new kid. I say things I regret a lot. I dream that the world was what everyone wanted it to be. I try to be something I’m not sometimes. I am Vincent. Me, my brother and my friends in the first week of school. Me and Jay working on our book.
