Identity Poem
At the start of the year, as part of our Who We Are unit, we were thinking about identity. Here is a poem I wrote to share some aspects of my identity.
I am Vincent.
I wonder what created the universe and beyond.
I hear my grandmother talking about us in Belgium.
I see my mom working hard to sustain our family.
I want to see everything the world has to offer.
I am Vincent.
I pretend to be okay when i need somebody.
I feel happy when I am with the right people.
I touch the mouse of the laptop when I play video games.
I worry my great grandmother will die when our family is not there.
I cry when I am hurt.
I am Vincent.
I understand what it’s like to be the new kid.
I say things I regret a lot.
I dream that the world was what everyone wanted it to be.
I try to be something I’m not sometimes.
