Vincent's ISZL Portfolio

For a math game we played a game that was called The Horse Race. In the game, there were eleven horses to choose from. You could choose a horse from number 2 - 12. Then you would roll two dice and if the equalled the number of a horse it would move forward one space. This game was unfair because the horses 7 and 6 or 8 got rolled for the most times, which meant that they won the game faster

For our government systems unit we made an EU simulation. I chose to play as the Netherlands because it is my home country. We would try to persuade other countries to pass the law. I stuck to the opinion I was given. Eventually, (two hours later) five countries had decided to pass the law and 3 did not want to, and 3 wanted to control it themselves. So the law was passed and we "won" the argument. I represented The Netherlands as a single person because there were not enough people for me to group up with. My allies were Germany and Finland. In the end I had Germany, Finland, Me, The UK, and Denmark all voting to pass the law. I think that my participation level was 10/10 because I really enjoyed the experience and it was a one-of-a-kind simulation. I think that my new learning was a 8/10 because I learned a lot about what it was really like and how it worked. My enjoyment level was a 9/10 because I really loved the experience and I loved representing my home country. ...

For my Passion Project I decided to research into drawing. My guiding question were: Change, How has drawing changed over time? Responsibility, What are the certain responsibilities certain forms of drawing have? Perspective, What do people think of drawing? Some of the feedback that I received from my fellow students were: "It is so good." -Heidi "Well done Vincent, it was a very interesting presentation." -Georgina "It was really original, funny, and interesting. I LOVED the game." -Francesc An interesting pice of information that I learned was what type of effects drawing has on the body and brain. During the preparation for the Passion Project, I think that my strengths as a learner were planning and patience because my Passion Project took a long time and I had to plan when I could fit in time to work on it. In the future, I would like to focus on having more games and interactive things (quality) so that my Passion Project g...

For this piece of writing, I decided to write about the over usage of screen time for kids. I chose to write this because I know for a fact that it is a big issue. One of the persuasive techniques that I used was Pathos because I included two stories that were sad and one was a bit frightening.  I think that this technique was a powerful tool because a lot of people will care more about the issue if they think that something sad will happen if they don't care about. When writing, the part that I found most challenging was writing the right sentences and words to convince my audience that this was an issue and that they should care about it. I am especially proud about how my persuasive text turned out. I think that I did a good job and that's why I'm proud of it.

Art With Mrs. Richardson Reflection Fo r our art projects we all made posters spreading a good message about taking care of the environment or other world wide problems. Me and Jay focused on the issue that the worlds nature is being destroyed, our poster is called Mother Nature or Pollution  Which do you choose? We recorded our progress using time lapse. To make our poster, we used a lot of different materials, like marker pens, wood, cotton balls, etc. We worked very hard to complete this and we were really happy with the result.  Here is our recording.
